whispr to me

My latest project is a private messaging website. You can send messages to friends, family or whoever. The email to the recipient contains a link to an encrypted message, that can either be decrypted by a password in the email, or you can get the password to them via another method and it won't be sent in the email.

It's all SSLed, and passwords aren't stored on the server so no snooping for the admins.

Super Smash Bros Brawl Australian Release Date

The Australian Release Date of Super Smash Bros Brawl is June 26th, 2008. 43 days and counting! This is my second most awaited game since the Wii launch. The first most awaited game was Mario Kart Wii. If you don't have Mario Kart, go out and get it now (if you can find it in stock anywhere)!

Nintendo sure took their time in releasing this game to Australia, they must have been concentrating on releasing Mario Kart at the same time as everyone else (or there abouts).

Hands up if you're sick of the treatment we get in Australia in the games market (or any other market for that matter)?! Having said that, I agree that a lot of games (and even systems) are being released on a worldwide date, and that we are slowly getting out of the Australian time zone of getting things months later (even though we're 10 hours ahead of everyone).

Login with wrong password on Paymate.com

Today I created an account on paymate.com. They're a site that could be compared to PayPal, allowing you to receive and send payments online, difference is payments you receive go directly into your bank account instead of via PayPal.

So I create my paymate account, and noted that my password could only be eight (8) characters. After creating my account, I was sent to the front page where I could login. Entering my password, I decided to try entering a password that was longer than 8 characters but the first 8 characters matched my password.

I hit login, and bam, it worked. Now don't get me wrong, but doesn't that classify as entering the wrong password? And yet it still logged me in. I assume it only verifies the first 8 characters entered.

A little worrying don't you think? Or is it really an issue?

EEE PC 900 Australian Prices

http://apcmag.com/windowsbased_eeepc_cheaper_than_linux_one.htm

So APC went to the Sydney launch event for the eee pc 900. It's not launched yet, but apc reported that the pricing for RRP was announced. The Windows XP version is $599 AUD and the Linux version is $649 AUD.

This outrages me. Now, for those who don't know, the XP version has an SSD of only 12GB and the Linux version has 20GB. The reason to this was so that the XP version could be sold at the same price...... true, for everywhere else but Australia!! Even New Zealand is selling the eee pc 900 xp and linux versions for the same price according to their Dick Smith Electronics online shop. Why, oh why, oh why does Australia always get the raw end of the deal??? I see it happen so often in the games industry.

Now, the Australian release date has also been rather lofty. Earlier I had posted saying that it looked like it would be May 18th, according to APC's report the release date will be the end of May. So just a little bit more waiting to go.

*twiddles thumbs in the meantime*

Ambitions after Uni

Unfortunately I can relate to the following comic. Dreams to dwindle between the start and finish of University. But we don't have to settle with that, we can choose to reignite our passions and take our dreams back! I encourage you to do that if you haven't already.

Why the last few tic tacs get stuck?

1:39:12 AM Greg: Why is it that the last few tic tacs in the box get stuck?
1:39:25 AM Leigh: Because they know what happened to the rest of them.

Edit: I've brought this post back from the past as my wife couldn't get the last couple of tic tacs out of the box. See image above.

House the Homeless

I've always really liked realestate.com.au over any of the other renting/buying websites in Australia. And this just gives me another reason to like them even more. What realestate.com.au are doing is when anyone goes to www.housesforthehomeless.com.au and clicks on the button to the right (after entering a human checker field) realestate.com.au will donate $1 to Mission Australia to help house the homeless. This is an awesome initiative. I will point out that they only donate up to the value of $100,000 but still, that helps. When I clicked the donation pool $16,243. Woohoo!

Let's get the word out there :)
